Funding and Biospecimens Access Opportunity

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research has supported several pre-clinical and clinical efforts that have generated valuable data, biospecimens, and tissue resources for the research community. Qualified researchers may request access to these resources (including PPMI) with or without funding requests by using a single application through Access Data & Biospecimens. Deadline: August 11. Cerebrospinal Fluid Data Posted to PPMI

Data from the analysis of baseline CSF samples are now available on the PPMI study database. 1,266 CSF samples from all 666 PPMI (PD, Healthy subject, SWEDD) baseline visits and 300 longitudinal visits (6 and 12 month from those subjects who have reached their 12 month visit) have been analyzed for alpha-synuclein (?-SYN), A?1-42, total tau (t-tau), and tau phosphorylated at threonine 181 (p-tau) and data is now available on the PPMI website.

Funding Opportunity for Research in PPMI and ADNI

A new funding opportunity for research into both Parkinson's and Alzheimer's has been launched. The Michael J. Fox Foundation, the Alzheimer?s Association and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation have launched a new grant program to inspire scientists to envision research projects that will use existing data and/or biological samples from PPMI and another large-scale biomarker study, the Alzheimer?s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI).

PPMI has reached an exciting milestone!  As of this week, there have been more than 100,000 downloads of the data to date.  The PPMI data has been downloaded across the globe by researchers at Universities, Research Institutions, Biotech Companies, and Pharmaceutical companies.  To get access to the PPMI data, request access here.
